Nigeria head coach Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr says he is expecting an improved Zambia side when both sides clash in Saturday’s decisive World Cup qualifier.
Victory in Uyo will qualify Group B leaders Nigeria to a sixth World Cup finals even with a round of the qualifiers to be played next month.
But they will be up against a young Zambian team, whose confidence has been boosted by their win home and away against Algeria last month.
The Eagles beat Zambia 2-1 in Ndola in the reverse fixture a year ago and Rohr warned he foresees a difficult game on Saturday.
“We will try to prepare well, we will have two training sessions every day, then we will assess the video of our past match and also the video of our opponent. The Zambians are a different team from the one we played in October last year,
“They are a younger team; they are much quicker and better than when we last played them.
“They are champions of Africa at U20 level and they have a different team from the one we played against in Ndola, so we must not underrate this team.
“We have a lot of respect for them. They twice beat Algeria and we know it won’t be easy.
“It will be more difficult than the Cameroon game.”
Saturday’s match will kick off at 5pm inside the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
