Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has revealed the reason why he snubbed a move to Manchester City and Liverpool few years ago in favour of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Ekong, 24, began his youth career with Fulham before moving to Spurs where he spent three years but didn’t progress to the first team.
While Ekong was at Fulham, Manchester City and Liverpool were heavily interested in his service but the then 16 year old preferred to remain in London and chose Spurs instead.
According to Voetbalzone, Ekong said his family played a big role in his choice, and he has no regret joining Spurs, despite not making the grades at the club – while teammate Harry Kane has managed to impress.
”What was available at Tottenham was very vital for me and my family, and that was the deciding factor for me, so I chose to play for Spurs at that time. In my private life, they managed somethings for me. I also like the club in London, it felt very good”, he said

”If you are fifteen or sixteen years old then go for what makes you feel good and where you think you can get a chance. That did not work for me at Spurs, but I don’t have any regret of my time in England “.
Ekong has been a regular since joining Bursaspor last summer and has contributed 2 goals from 6 starts.
