Liverpool’s Senegalese attacker Sadio Mane has posted an apology to Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
The Teranga Lions player collided with the ‘keeper in challenging for a 50-50 ball and accidentally kicked him in the face in a Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Mane clearly had no intention to hurt the City gloves-man, but was nonetheless shown a straight red card.
His dismissal proved to be the turning point in the match, with the Citizens taking advantage of their numerical superiority to claim a resounding 5-0 win.
Despite his frustration at being sent off, Mane took the time to post the following apology to Ederson on his Instagram account.
“I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery,” Mane wrote.
“I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it.
“I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon because he is highest quality player.”
