Real Madrid are reportedly preparing a January bid for Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero.

Aguero became City’s all-time leading goalscorer when he registered in their 4-2 win over Napoli in the Champions League last week.

The Argentine also netted against Arsenal in the Premier League at the weekend to take his total to 179 goals for the Citizens.

Despite Aguero’s standing in Manchester, it is understood that the South American is considering his future, and according to Le 10 Sport, Real Madrid believe that they can tempt the striker back to Spain.

Karim Benzema is having the mother of all bad spells at Real Madrid and if the whistles that rung through Estadio Santiago Bernabeu are any indication, the fans for one have had enough.

Florentino Perez may have finally run out of patience with his favourite player and is ready to let him go and ask a truly world-class striker to come in and wear the no.9 shirt of Real Madrid.

Aguero had been closing in on a deal with Real Madrid at the time he had been leaving neighbours Atletico, but the unspoken agreement between the two Madrid clubs and entry of the (then relatively new-) cash-rich Manchester City tipped the scales in the English clubs favour.

This unspoken agreement, though, was smashed to smithereens when Los Blancos went ahead and pinched away Theo Hernandez from Los Rojiblancos and in any case it’s not a direct transfer anymore, is it?

Aguero and Gabriel Jesus have formed a great synergy at Man City

Aguero scored 101 goals in 234 appearances for Real Madrid’s bitter rivals Atletico Madrid before moving to City in the summer of 2011.
