Gernot Rohr has remained coy on the option of a possible Super Eagles return for Shanghai Shenhua forward Obafemi Martins.
The Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr has refused to rule out the option of taking former Newcastle United and Inter Milan striker to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
However, the German tactician has revealed that majority of the players that qualified Nigeria for a sixth World Cup won’t be omitted from the 23-man roster.
”We will call the best men, but now everybody wants to come because we are in the World Cup,” Gernot Rohr told HipTV via allnigeriasoccer
”The players who brought us to the World Cup, I don’t forget them.”
Obafemi Martins also played a role in Nigeria’s qualification for next summer’s showpiece, having made two substitute appearances against Swaziland in the second round of the World Cup qualifiers in November 2015.
The Shanghai Greenland Shenhua frontman debuted for the Super Eagles at the World Cup against Argentina on June 12, 2010.
Martins has contributed to 11 goals – 8 goals, 3 assists – in 15 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua.
