Do you know who the most valuable player (to their individual team) is in the Premier League? No, it’s not Harry Kane, or even Alvaro Morata.
According to a recent study by EA SPORTS, it emerges that Pascal Groß of Brighton is the most precious player in that sense.
Groß has got off to an impressive start to the season with 2 goals and 4 assists, a significant portion of Brighton’s 9 goals so far in the Premier League. For a team fighting to stay in the Premier League after their promotion from the Championship last season, this form may well prove hugely important.
That’s 67% (two thirds) of Brighton’s goals so far. Even Harry Kane and Alvaro Morata don’t quite match that level of success, their eight and nine “total goals” only worth 47% of their London team’s totals.
In fact, neither match Wayne Rooney, whose four goals (no assists) count for 57% of Everton’s total goals. Admittedly, the Goodison Park side has not been enjoying a good season, and it has resulted in Ronaldo Koeman getting sacked.
It will be interesting to see if Everton’s next manager recognises the value that Rooney clearly has in providing goals.
The inclusion of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah also demonstrates the vital role that he plays within their squad as he has scored or assisted 43% of Liverpool’s 14 Premier League goals.
His contribution is especially important given Liverpool have had to deal with the loss of Sadio Mane in the early part of the season.
