Manchester United first team players Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, David de Gea and Antonio Valencia are set to return to the starting XI against Hull.
The quartet did not play in Sunday’s 4-0 FA Cup win against Wigan and are due to start as Jose Mourinho’s men return to Premier League action at Old Trafford.
Eric Bailly, back from the African Cup of Nations, is available for United, while Mourinho confirmed before Tuesday’s transfer deadline that Ashley Young will be staying and involved.
Hull City ended United’s 17-match unbeaten run in the EFL Cup semi-final second leg at the KCOM Stadium, but Mourinho is eyeing a win as the sides prepare to do battle for the second time in a week
“The last time we played them, even a defeat would have been a good result,” he said. “Even to lose the match by one goal difference would give us a final.
“And only three points is a good result for us so if we don’t win it’s really bad because we need to win matches. That’s a big difference, we need to win the match.”
Provisional squad: De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Darmian, Fosu-Mensah, Valencia, Young, Rojo, Tuanzebe, Smalling, Jones, Bailly, Blind, Shaw, Carrick, Mata, Fellaini, Schweinsteiger, Herrera, Pogba, Lingard, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Rashford, Ibrahimovic.
