Jose Mourinho has demanded the Manchester United board offer him greater financial backing, amid talks of interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
M.E.N. Sport report that PSG officials made contact with Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes, after the United manager spoke in detail about the French side last month.
Mourinho is believed to have asked United club officials to ‘step up’ and offer him assurances, as he looks to win more silverware with the club, after their EFL Cup and Europa League successes last season.
Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge courtesy of an Alvaro Morata header means Mourinho’s side are now eight points adrift of inner-city rivals, Manchester City.
During a recent interview with French television channel Telefoot, the Portuguese manager hailed Paris as ‘special’.
“The other day my son, who lives in London, went to Paris and not to Manchester to watch the match.
“At the moment in Paris there is something special. Magic, quality, youth, it’s fantastic,” he said.
Mourinho is contracted to United until 2019, and has an option to extend his stay beyond then until 2020, but feels the club need to be more ambitious in the transfer market if he is to commit further.
