Bayern Munich got back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory against Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena to reduce the gap at the top of the table to three points.
This game was the star match of the weekend and it did not disappoint. Both teams pressed high and looked to attack whenever they gained possession, and although Bayern marginally shaded the opening exchanges it remained goalless until the half-hour mark.
Thiago Alcatara gave Bayern the lead with a header in the 30th minute after Bernd Leno parried Phillip Lahm’s shot. Meanwhile, Hakan Calhanoglu equalised for Leverkusen five minutes later after a neat one-two with Julian Brandt before Mats Hummels got the winner for Bayern with a brilliant header from a corner in the second half.
Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund stumbled 1-2 against Frankfurt. Szabolcs Huszti and Haris Seferovic scored either side of a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equaliser at the Commerzbank Arena.
