Barcelona have set their sight on Corinthians left-back Guilherme Arana.
The Corinthians left-back, 20, has exploded onto the scene this year. His performance has not gone missed by scouts for big European sides, who regularly comb the prolific Brazilian market.
Atletico Madrid and Sevilla have mobilised to try and sign the defender, who stands out for his huge power and long range shot.
Barcelona, in a more discreet fashion, are also following him including at the U20 South American championships in Ecuador. Brazil failed but Arana was one of the few who impressed.
Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade says Arana might have to leave this winter because the club are in a bad financial situation. His contract expires in December 2019, but the deal would happen immediately – in December this year when the Brazilian championship ends, or in the summer.
They would only get 40 per cent of the fee with the rest of the player owned by various investment groups.
With Lucas Digne unable to unseat Jordi Alba, Barcelona are considering selling the Frenchman – who was asked for by Luis Enrique – and signing Arana.
